Quitting
Time had come to quit the company. I had started getting serious chest pains but couldn't go to a physician because I was not covered by health insurance. Others were. (I heard the company had very good medical plan for its regular employees.) Sanjay Dayal used to take long breaks for coffee et cetera and I started joining him but I needed to get out of this place especially since I had paid off all my credit card bills.
I will accept that my timing was not perfect. Since I was a subcontractor who could be told any time to stop working, it is only fitting that I tell the company on Friday night that I quit immediately. I told Sanjay Dayal about my plans, he tried to dissuade me and then accepted it. It took 3-4 weeks with each week I thought of quitting but postponing it. Finally, I did it. My regret is that I should have been able to do so when I was most needed. Like the time they asked me to develop the model and finish it quickly. Just when the customer is waiting in the meeting room to see your software, you leave and call from a cell phone from a distance (since you don't want to be physically harmed by a group of upset meanies) to tell them "#@$%, I quit." (emailing from far is another option.) I recommend this only in situations when the management is a bunch of racist jerks like they were at Xamplify. Otherwise, please be professional.
Actually I left gracefully. The company management was well aware of my feelings, but as Sanjay Dayal explained to me not to burn any bridges. I didn't see any bridges but I saw a group of cunning, ruthless, powerful humanoids who when provoded could bring false changes of stealing company secrets etc. Why take a chance with such dangerous people?
