Bob Burnett

Robert Burnett of Berkeley was VP of Cisco Systems and retired wealthy more than a decade ago. Just before assuming the role of President at Xamplify, Burnett was the publisher of progressive In These Times. He claims to have been involved in Civil Rights Movement and other movements where equality was an issue.

Robert Burnett at Xamplify

Bob Burnett brought Jeffrey Klein the gift of his fat wallet and thick list of industry contacts and in exchange was provided with an executive position in a make-believe bleeding-edge technology startup. Holding meetings and escorting Sumer Johal to potential customers could have been his well-deserved rewards. A few times Burnett sat in the common area and talked about his days at Cisco while Jeffrey Klein and Sumer Johal waited patiently for him to finish. Once Bob Oliver became a frequent visitor to the company, it was time for Robert Burnett to be shown the door. However, he remained listed as an investor till much later, even on day the firm publicly announced on the web its ability to catch clients engaged in illicit activities like money laundering (see bottom illustration).

Bob Burnett and Sumer Johal

Robert Burnett had written a COBOL compiler years ago and now Sumer Johal was here to lead him to twenty-first century with his technical skills. What they discussed in those long closed-door meetings but a glimpse into Bob Burnett and Johal’s minds can be obtained by viewing Xamplify Solutions, perhaps one of the most creative literary work of the dotcom era, and reading description under Architectural Highlights, System Requirements, and Integration Architecture towards the end.

Bob Burnett and Me

We talked briefly on a few occasion on general topics. Bob Burnett seemed nice. Did Burentt know about the racial discriminatory practices of company towards me, or what it was trying to do to the potential customers and investors? Are Jeffrey Kelin and Robert Burnett still friends? What about Sumer Johal and Robert Burnett?

Added June 7, 2004. I think he knows about it and is just trying to avoid the whole issue thinking if he ignores it it will go way. Meanwhile, he must be busy giving speeches about workers' rights. What a real scumbag! If you happen to talk to him, could you remind him that he owns me money and he should not be exploiting a poor colored immigrant like me.
