Jeffrey Klein appeared to me a hardcore racist, and a very corrupt individual. Klein is a former editor of Mother Jones magazine with “a legacy of raising hell.” (In contrast, he tried to make my life hell at Xamplify Inc). Klein worked for San Jose Mercury too. It is his background in investigative journalism and silicon valley that seemed to give him a rare insight on how America’s technology industry really worked and Jeffrey Klein appeared to have applied many techniques he learnt previously, at Xamplify.) The publication he loved to read was the Wall Street Journal.

Jeffrey Klein became the CEO after a short stint by David Rockower. His sole goal seemed to be how to find a sucker to unload this turkey of a company at high price. Klein and other backers of the company are very well connected and used that to hype the company even on PBS. Product development was the least of his concerns since potential customers could be easily lied to. Jeffrey Klein and his favorite employee Sumer Johal were forced to leave the company soon after I left.

Jeffrey Klein had his sweetheart Sumer Johal to assist him in pulling off his scam. Sumer Johal lacked technical skills but more than made up for that by his ability to lie effortlessly and making sure that Jeffrey Klein and his friends were well taken care of in the company while Indians like me were exploited. It is so rare to find two scumbags like Jeffrey Klein and Sumer Johal, all at one place.

Shortly before he was ousted from Mother Jones, Jeffrey Klein wrote against affirmative action. At Xamplify, to make up for wrongs done by affirmative action, he decided to hire and place in high position his incompetent and lazy white friends. Julian Brookes seemed like his godson and was made director of research in this technology firm. He had a degree in European literature with no industry experience. (In contrast, I have undergraduate degree from IIT Bombay, graduate degrees in business and computer science, and years’ of relevant work experience.) He was one of my bosses. Thomas Emerson, on other hand had the habit of showing up very late for work, having 3-4 hour long lunch breaks and frequently not showing up for work at all. Moreover, his work quality was the worst I have even seen. He too was enjoying white privilege at Xamplify, thanks to Jeffrey Klein.

There is no doubt that Jeffrey Klein is very well-connected. PBS’s Paul Solman introduced him on NewsHour with Jim Lehrer stating he was a very good friend. Bob Burnett, a wealthy individual who co-founded Cisco Systems, and who frequently talks about his commitment to civil rights, stated that it was on the urging of his friend Jeffrey Klein that he became the president of Xamplify leaving the publisher's post at In These Times. Klein’s current wife is a lawyer and seems like David Rockower, the lawyer who was the founding CEO of Xamplify, and some other lawyers are friends too. Isn’t this an ideal combination – a crook with lawyer friends?

Basically he started discriminating me from beginning. I was made a contract worker – the only one doing full time work – by lying to me. Salary was $1000/week without any benefits in the high maintenance San Francisco Bay Area! Soon after September 11, 2001, he and Sumer Johal held a meeting with me – the sole purpose of which, in my view, was to harass me further. I have seen racists at Mitsubishi, Japan and Jeffrey Klein safely falls in that category.
