Terry Winograd

Terry Winograd, Stanford, is a HCI expert. Like Bob Burnett, Terry Winograd, too is vocal about Social Justice issues. He is big on privacy issue and currently is on advisory board of Google.

Terry Winograd and Xamplify

Like other advisors - e.g. David Donoho and Niels Waller, Terry Winograd was present in Xamplify on its website. Winograd was not to be seen in a physical sense. I believe that his name was there when I joined the company, but I didn't see him at all.

Terry Winograd and Privacy Issue

Terry has been outspoken about the privacy issue and Xamplify at its earlier phase had strong view on privacy issue. However, over time it changed and the later the company moved to recommending "Report suspicions, Intensive monitoring" (bottom illustration) for people who had not even taken its online survey but based on extrapolation techniques of its most likely non-existent sound analytics. To be fair, Terry Winograd had ceased being an advisor months prior to that.

While it is doubtful Terry Winograd knew about the racist environment at Xamplify, I wonder what will Terry do once he comes to know about this.

Would Terry Winograd have approved of the racist treated of me by Jeffrey Klein? Or the direction Xamplify was going into?

Added June 7, 2004. I think he knows about it and is just trying to avoid the whole issue thinking if he ignores it it will go way. Meanwhile, he must be busy giving speeches about how he a 60's child. What a scumbag!
