Renaissance Technologies, MSRI $$$$

Note: If you came here looking for Renaissance Technologies Corp, a hedge fund located in New York, Medallion Hedge Fund, and/or Jim Simons (James H. Simons), head of Renaissance Technologies Corp, please visit them at www.rentec.com (last time I checked, seemed like Renaissance Technologies Corp has withdrawn from web, phone #: 631.444.7000 ?. I doubt Jim Simons and company is going to appear soon on web, but I will try to keep you posted on Jim Simons and Renaissance that would include my commentaries on Renaissance hedge fund and Jim Simons. Please check back later.)

Note: Back to business: Here potential connection between academia and business is explored.

During my job interview, Jeffrey Klein, the CEO of Xamplify, asked me whether I had heard of Medallion Hedge Fund. He seemed excited and told me about their fantastic performance based on decisions made by understanding investor psychology. Later he gave photocopy of an article on that fund. Also, later I saw him reading that article and go to Sumer Johal to discuss. Who knows maybe success of Medallion Fund was what got Xamplify started?

Medallion Hedge Fund is currently owned by Renaissance Technologies Corp., a hedge fund family based in New York. (Its president, Jim Simons (James H. Simons) ,sits on the board of Trustees of MSRI.

Currently my focus is on Xamplify solely, but a cursory check shows the following dots which might or might not connect Renaissance Technologies Corp., MSRI, Xamplify, and $$$$ in the future.

Did you know that Xamplify, Inc. in its brief history had another name at start. It was Xamplify T***********. Also given that S-PLUS was the statistical system used at Xamplify, can you name one other corporation big on S-PLUS?

The list could go on and on. MSRI is a very prestigious research institution and I have no doubt in my mind that most people affiliated with it are very honest. Do they know what's going on?

If you know of any hanky panky going on at MSRI, please contact me.
